In the good tradition of wonderful events organised by The Royal British Legion women’s section in Chingford on Tuesday, 8th August 2017 a bus full of joyous members set off at 9 am from Sainsburys to Southend for one of the many annual day trips.
It rained when we got there but it cleared up nicely later in the day so we could enjoy the various activities the town has to offer: a refreshing cup of coffee in the elegant Tomasseli cafe, (I had a cream cake with cream and ice cream, don’t tell my friends at Slimming World) a leisurely stroll along the Main shopping Street trying to avoid making too much of a dent in our finances, a good rest and the odd glass of beer or juice on the promenade, before the train ride up the long Pier.
On the Pier we discovered that the sun was up and shining so we basked in the heat while admiring the vastness of the sea and the occasional cargo ship in the distance. Back from this mini trip, we only had to cross the road to go to Luigi s Fish and Chips restaurant where we enjoyed fish, scampi and a delicious desert served to perfection by Luigi with a smile.
By now it was time to make our way back to the bus where everybody took their seats, having spent a great day outdoors and more importantly, having enjoyed the company of good friends.
Looking forward to the next trip to Whistable on Saturday August 19th …. get your fun day out tickets from Sharon Bonner, Bob Marriot or ask in the club…
